Song on ABC’s Private Practice Tonight
Hey Everyone, I received some fun news today. A song I wrote with Jason Walker called “Cry” will be on ABC’s Private Practice tonight at 9pm.(5/7/10) Jason recorded the song on his self entitled debut EP. Check it out on iTunes!

Jon’s new song called “God is Moving” was released on iTunes this week as part of a Greatworshipsongs.com compilation called “Autumn.” Co-written with Chad Cates and Lee Black, this tune was written to encourage us and proclaim that no matter our circumstances, “God is moving still….He always has and always will.” Click on the album cover to be directed to iTunes.
Jon Receives Gold Record!
Jon received a Gold Record in Nashville this week for Chris Tomlin’s 2-time Grammy nominated See The Morning Album. See The Morning contains Jon’s song, “Awesome Is The Lord Most High,” co-written with Cary Pierce, Chris Tomlin and Jesse Reeves. See more pics on Jon’s myspace.

Jon’s song “There Is None Like You (Sovereign Lord)” is track #1 on Worship Leader Magazine’s songDISCovery CD this month. Along side songs from Third Day, Tommy Walker and Tenth Avenue North, these tunes were meant to be sung in church, Bible study, or your own personal time with the Lord. Growing up in South Louisiana with no natural pull or interest in music, Jon never imagined becoming a musician, much less doing music for a living. His parent’s gift of an Ibanez acoustic guitar for his high school graduation was so out of the blue that Jon nearly pawned it to get what every 18-year-old fresh out of high school needs. Cash!
Jon never stepped into that pawnshop, but rather began to learn how to play this foreign instrument and eventually write songs with it. He also learned that God’s ways were far from typical as a music ministry was birthed and unforeseen doors began opening in unbelievable ways.
Abel recently garnered his first Gold Record for his song, “Awesome Is The Lord Most High” which was covered on Chris Tomlin’s two-time Grammy Nominated See The Morning album. An artist/writer with Nashville’s Universal/Brentwood Benson Music, Jon’s songs have been featured on projects like sixstepsrecord’s Passion-Everything Glorious CD, Worship Leader Magazine’s SongDISCovery compilations and publications such as Christianity Today, Relevant magazine, and Worship Musician Magazine.
Based in Dallas, TX with his wife Sue and their three children, Jon is the worship leader at Highland Park Presbyterian’s 1105 Gathering. Whether it’s leading on Sunday mornings or playing at events nation-wide, Jon’s heart is to help people clearly see the greatness, wonders and glory of God through his music, family, and community.
